Let companies know:
Companies have the resources to drive real climate action - but too many are abandoning their net-zero targets.
Greenhushing has become a crisis of momentum. Now is the time to do more, not less.
We need companies to simultaneously invest in rapid decarbonization and large-scale nature conservation.

Read the letter to companies:
An Urgent Call to Corporations: End Greenhushing. Act on Climate and Conservation Now.
Attention Global Companies,
In today’s political and economic climate, regulatory pressure on corporations to tackle climate change is weak - and in some cases, disappearing altogether. This erosion of accountability is compounding an already troubling trend: companies stepping back from climate action due to the chilling effect of greenhushing. But retreating from climate commitments is not an option.
The science is clear: we must cut global emissions drastically and immediately. Yet the technologies and policies needed to fully decarbonize are not moving fast enough. Many industries are considered “hard to abate,” because our global economy is still deeply reliant on them. At the same time, nature - our planet’s best defense against climate chaos - is being destroyed at a rate that threatens our ability to adapt and recover.
We can’t choose between solutions. We need all of them.
That means simultaneously investing in rapid decarbonization and large-scale nature conservation. Forests, wetlands, and other ecosystems are not just worth protecting - they are essential to stabilizing our climate. Companies like yours have the power, resources, and responsibility to act on both fronts.
As UN Secretary-General António Guterres declared: “Our world needs climate action on all fronts: everything, everywhere, all at once.”
Yet many effective conservation projects that provide a real lifeline to local communities on the frontlines of climate change are being cast off as greenwashing when companies support them.
False claims from companies on their sustainability efforts need to be regulated. But companies should be encouraged to communicate on evidence-based impacts of their investments into legitimate conservation projects.
Because what’s worse than greenwashing is companies walking away from their climate commitments altogether. The overuse of the term “greenwashing” has discouraged voluntary corporate action, pushing businesses to do less for the climate out of fear for their reputations.
This inaction risks slowing momentum at the worst possible time.
We, the undersigned, believe it’s time for bold, decisive leadership.
We’re calling on your company to step forward - clearly, publicly, and unapologetically.
We ask that you:
-
Reaffirm your climate commitments. Stay the course on decarbonization and transparency.
-
Invest in global conservation efforts. Protect the communities and ecosystems that are on the frontlines of climate change.
-
Speak up. Make your climate action visible so others can follow.
Your leadership matters. Forest communities, Indigenous peoples, and future generations are watching. Conscious consumers - like those signing this letter - will stand behind companies that are honest, ambitious, and committed to progress.
Don’t step back. Step up.
Be the corporation that chooses courage over inaction.
Be the company that stands on the right side of history.
