Rukinga Sanctuary: An Unique Investment Opportunity
Rukinga Sanctuary
Rukinga Sanctuary is a 75,000 acre wilderness in the Tsavo Ecosystem in Southeastern Kenya. Rukinga is at the heart of a world renowned commu- nity conservation project founded in 1997 by Wildlife Works, a US based innovative conservation fashion company.
Now after ten years and millions of dollars of invest- ment in restoring the land to spectacular wilderness, Wildlife Works is ready to share our gem in the bush with a discerning investor who dreams of having a ranch in Africa, but doesn’t have the time or knowledge to go it alone .
The Opportunity
The majority owner of Rukinga is offering a 30% stake in the land for sale. Buyer would have the right to access the entire 74,490 acres of Rukinga Sanctu- ary in addition to the surrounding properties with which Wildlife Works has management agreements. The total ecosystem is almost 200,000 acres, and is on the boundary of the 22,000 km2 Tsavo National Park.
Buyer would have the right to construct a private home for the exclusive non commercial use of Buyer and Buyer’s guests.
Buyer will also participate in current and future planned income generating activities on Rukinga.
Alternatively Wildlife Works could be contracted to design and/or build the Buyer’s Bush Home, as we have extensive experience of local construction to the highest quality, using eco-friendly materials.
The Cost $4,000,000 US for a 30% shareholding, or the equivalent of $179 per acre.
The Value
Vibrant Kenyan wilderness, with this variety of species including a large population of elephants is incredibly rare and sells for $500 an acre and more.
On top of that, an outright owner would have to carry the costs of securing the property, and of developing good relationships with the surrounding community to ensure future security. Wildlife Works and it’s majority shareholder will carry the total cost of security and have developed a uniquely strong bond with the surrounding community over the past ten years, ensuring you will feel welcome in your African wilderness home.
The Wildlife
Rukinga is home to over 50 species of large mammal, including elephants, lions, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, vervet monkey, olive baboon and endangered species such as Grevy’s Zebra and African Wild Dog. It is also home to over 300 bird species, including ostrich, hornbills, secretary birds and green parrots and over 100 reptile species, including the awesome savannah monitor lizard.
Rukinga acts as a corridor between Tsavo East and West National Parks as there are no fences on the Park boundaries, and as a result, seasonally there can be as many as 1000 elephants on Rukinga.
