Our Products Benefit the Planet in Many Ways!

Wildlife Works is committed to making and sourcing beautiful products that have one or more significant benefits for the health and well being of our planet. Remember that EVERY product you buy from us helps us earn dollars to support our conservation work. The benefits below are above and beyond the financial support your purchase provides to us. On each of our detailed product pages, underneath the description of the product, you will see one or more of the following icons, indicating that specific product has those benefits.

This icon indicates that the product is made from materials that were grown organically, that is to say without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Growing this way promotes a healthy environment for farmers who no longer have to handle toxic chemicals to grow their crops, and by keeping groundwater clear of toxic chemicals, it helps the rest of us, and wildlife, because as we like to say, animals don't drink bottled water!. Most products in this category will be certified organic by a third party certifier. That is true of all Wildlife Works organic cotton products. However we have also included in this category products that are grown organically but have not been certified as such yet, either due to lack of available certifiers in the country of origin, or because the producer cannot afford to pay for the certification costs. Hemp and Sisal products would often fall into this category.

This icon indicates that the product is made from recycled or repurposed materials. Reusing previously used materials, or reclaiming material from another products waste stream can be one of the most environmentally friendly ways to make a product.

This icon indicates that the product is made under Fair Trade conditions, either by Wildlife Works in our own eco-factory in Kenya or by a supplier to Wildlife Works that has been independently verified as a Fair Trade company. Fair Trade is an emerging global standard that aims to ensure the producers of products in the developing world are paid a fair wage for their work, and/or a fair price for the products that they are selling to the marketplace. Fair Trade labeling on this site is only done on products sourced from International locations, as is the custom. Wildlife Works wants to make it clear that we would never source products from Sweatshops or any supplier not practicing the highest ethics, whether that product is made Internationally or here in the USA.

This icon indicates that the company behind the product donates money to environmental causes. Sometimes this is in the form of a percentage of the proceeds from a specific product sale, e.g. 5% of price of product goes to wildlife conservation, and sometimes it is in the form of financial donations that the company makes from its overall income or sales, e.g 1% of total sales given to environmental causes.

This icon indicates that the company behind the product made the product as an integral part of a wildlife conservation project, using the jobs making the product as influence to help the community to conserve their natural resources. This is the Wildlife Works product model for all of our products manufactured in our eco-factory in Kenya, and we believe this represents the ultimate contribution that a product can make to helping wildlife on our planet.
