our mission
Meet the women who make your products.

Here are a few of the stories of the women who make your products in our Ecofactory at our Rukinga sanctuary in Kenya. Our story is really their story. They become our champions in their community, asking their friends and families to forego poaching to protect their jobs, and the independence it gives them.

Norah Matunda
My name is Norah. I am a single mother of 2 children, a boy and a girl, aged 5years and 3years.

I had heard about the conservation work Wildlife Works does from relatives in Maungu. But did not know much about it. I then got to hear that they were looking for machine attendants. I applied for the job and got employed in 2001. I did not have a job at the time and it was a great relief when I started earning some income. The job has helped me support my children. I also made some savings and over time managed to buy a small plot (30m by 40m). I hope that I will be able to build rental houses on the plot soon. I also assist my 3 siblings in secondary school to buy supplies to use at school. I pray that the factory will get busier so as to increase its capacity and thus income. At the moment am happy that there is more work to do at the factory.
