Meet the women who make your products.
Here are a few of the stories of the women who make your products in our Ecofactory at our Rukinga sanctuary in Kenya. Our story is really their story. They become our champions in their community, asking their friends and families to forego poaching to protect their jobs, and the independence it gives them.
Denaice Akesho
My name is Denaice. I am a single parent to one child, 14 years old. She is in primary school.
A cousin of mine who stays in Maungu told me about Wildlife Works. I applied for a job and got employed in February 2002. Before then, I was working in Mombasa. My previous job was paying poorly. I was not earning enough to support my daughter and myself.
There is job security at Wildlife Works so am able to plan my finances. Am also able to provide for my daughter. Since I am employed on a permanent basis, my pension is taken care of and this makes me assured of future security.
I pray that we will get more work so as to earn more income. I would like to have my friends out there get jobs at Wildlife Works so that they can also have their lives improved.
